Born in the Eastern Cape of South Africa (1992) Lukhanyo Mdingi a Multi-Disciplinary Designer and Creative Director - predominantly known for creating his eponymous label in 2015 - An ever-evolving emergence of consideration, community and research as its central lexicon.
With notable mentions, Lukhanyo Mdingi has had the opportunity to exhibit select archival bodies of work in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London as well as the Brooklyn Museum, New York as part of the Africa Fashion Exhibition. In working with the notion of lineage-building; this is particularly noted in his partnership with the Ethical Fashion Initiative - United Nations, as well as being the recipient of the LVMH Karl Lagerfeld Prize in 2021, leading on becoming a finalist of the ANDAM Prize 2022.
These on-going relationships continue to nurture his sense of discernment in community building, whilst using Creative Direction, Research Projects and Design as a means of achieving excellence within each project. This has led to Lukhanyo Mdingi being awarded the GQ Designer of the Year Award 2023, including being the honorary recipient, winner of the AMIRI Prize 2023 as well as being part of the BOF Class of 2024 industry leaders in the Fashion & Culture space.
Lukhanyo Mdingi has presented at New York and Paris Fashion Week to acclaimed receptions. This eternal reverence of design & collaboration is central to his vision, and the legacy of his portfolio is a testimony of consideration & multi-disciplinary creativity.
With a continuous pursuit of service & mentorship, he currently resides as a board member of the Annual Advisory Committee for the Design Academy of Fashion (DAF) - Cape Town, South Africa.
